Without a Sound by Dinosuar Jr

Below the review are YouTube videos of all Without a Sound songs I could find on Youtube. I tried to find live versions, but didn't do very well.
Without a Sound was given a panning when it came out. Even J said he wasn't in the right mind set when recording it, given the recent death of his father. I remember one review, soon after its release, saying that J Mascis could be the voice of a generation if only he could be bothered, and made a point of criticising him for his apparent lack of enthusiasm for this. It read like an excuse to turn the review round to talking about the then recent death of Kurt Cobain (as if not a good enough reason for not wanting to be the voice of a generation), and also a hint towards how Dinosaur Jr's music, lyrics and singing style can sound like they just got out of bed. The reviews were all wrong. Feel the Pain, Mind Glow and Seemed Like the Thing to Do are instantly likeable, the others just get better with time. Outta Hand, Even You, Get Out of This are all testament to J's talent as a songwriter and a singer. It's well recorded, especially Mind Glow. Without knowing of J's personal tragedy when this album was recorded, there is still something obviously sad about a lot of these songs, only showing more the quality of the band. J playing drums on this album. Enjoy the videos below, sorry there's not more live versions.
