A Brief Introduction to Dinosaur Jr
Dinosaur Jr began in 1984, forming in Massachusetts, America. They broke up in 1997, reformed in 2005. J Mascis is the singer, guitarist, main songwriter, and only consistent band member. J also plays other instruments, including drums sometimes on Dinosaur Jr recordings. In 1986, Sonic Youth asked Dinosaur (the band were originally called Dinosaur, before a legal clash with another band called Dinosaur, resulted in them renaming themselves Dinosaur Jr) to join them on a tour of part of the US. Commercial success followed, along with changes in band members. The 2005 reforming of Dinosaur Jr saw them back to the original line up. Dinosaur Jr were one of the US alternative rock / punk / grunge bands that had majorly successful records during the early 1990's.
